I noticed this here too: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,10993.0.html

have 12 fields to choose from. auto-complete works, but it will not accept any of the valid options. I get error:"Please select valid custom value."

I tried to recreate on the demo site by creating an auto complete select, and when adding a value received this error: Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

cid (value: %%cid%%) is not of the type Positive

Return to home page."

group is "autocomplete test".

I was able to successfully do autocomplete on a value in the list but then I could no longer add a custom group (error: Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

One of parameters (value: ) is not of the type Int)

I'm not sure if this is just a hosed demo site

but it definitely looks like a bug on our site.

Where are you getting the above error on the demo site ('no longer add a custom group')?? As u noted, I can edit that autocomplete custom field and change / save new values - not sure where you're seeing the error?
