having a hard time configuring a couple of things:

1. where do I change the drupal settings for user registration and which profile fields it asks you to enter?
2. Drupal is not asking people to create a password when creating a username
3. What's a good way of assigning "members" of the organization rights to restricted areas of the site.

1. create a profile in civicrm and set it to show for drupal sign up
2. sounds like a drupal issue
3. pls be clearer. do you mean people who have a CiviCRM membership, or contacts who need a specific role.

Sounds like you may need to skim the online book a bit more (see just below header for link).
