Multiple event reg pages per event
February 17, 2010, 05:19:19 am
I think it would be really useful to have the ability to create multiple event pages for a single event. Use cases would include:

1) Create an online registration page with the participant role = attendee, that is designed specifically for standard registrants
2) Create a second reg page with participant role = speaker, and with various role-based custom fields specific to this audience. For example, an org may want to expose a call for presentations form where potential speakers are invited to submit outlines for a session. And this form may collect a presentation description, bio, and other info specific to speakers
3) A third online reg form may be created with participant role = exhibitor, which collects details about the exhibit options, and also has data fields specific to this context

In each case, it is preferable to have all three participant types captured under the same event. But currently, we are limited to a single participant role when creating the reg form, so the options are to 1) only have one form capturing one participant type, or 2) creating multiple events to segment the audience.

As a first step, I think the online registration configuration page contains all the relevant info that should be duplicated, with the exception of the participant role (which currently shows up on the first page, but really belongs on this page). A more robust implementation would allow the user to choose which fee options (e.g. from a priceset) are visible on each version of the reg page. So the complete set of fee options would be defined, but only those relevant to the participant role would display on the corresponding page.

Structurally, there would need to be some reworking of the tables. If I recall correctly, the event page details used to be in a separate table, but were combined into the single events table a few versions ago. So those would need to be broken back out to accommodate many pages per one event.

A partial solution to this already exists in that you can make the Participant Role selectable by the user by exposing that field in a Profile.
