Upgrade interfering with stored email settings?
February 17, 2010, 02:21:05 pm
Hi, I've noticed on the last couple of upgrades (3.1b5 to 3.1b6 and 3.1b6 to 3.1.2) that following the upgrade CiviCRM seems unable to send emails. This is fixed by re-entering the password for the SMTP account that the website has for doing this. It appears that something about the upgrade has caused the system to hold an incorrect password which needs a reset.

I only noticed because new members were joining but I wasn't getting the alert emails and a test showed that they weren't getting receipts either. The incorrect password was causing an authentication failure with the mailserver.

Has anyone else noticed this? Now that I know about it, its easy to fix and check on upgrading, but its odd and happened twice so I thought I'd ask.

As far as I know upgrade never modifies SMTP password.
