Here is my CiviCRM page:

How can I increase the size or width of the left column so that the text doesn't have to wrap?

Firebug is your best friend

Check class "label"..

Thanks, but I don't see any class with name "label"

Where in the source is it? I have FireBug installed in Firefox.

I also changed the width below the column width, which should remain 1% larger than the column width.

Is there anything else I can do to my page to make it better? http://we.net/volunteer
