Disable Event Summary on Civievent event page

is there a good way to turn the summary off on a CiviEvent event page, I like to use the summary in my views block on the front page, but I think it's not necessary on on the actual event page.

You mean event summary on Event Info page?  You should use custom template feature to remove description.
