Registering for an event doesn't work with SSL
September 28, 2007, 07:35:07 am
HI - i need help!  I have 1.8 running with drupal 5...force ssl is on, gateway is authorize.net...when I try to register for and pay for an event, the page just refreshes...and does not move onto the confirmation screen. I am not in test mode and I'm not getting any errors or warnings...any ideas?  When I turn force ssl off, it works fine.  The form action says http:// so that seems incorrect as well??

This is most likely due to one of the following:

1. your apache redirect rules

2. another drupal module which tweaks ssl settings etc (i forget the name of the module)

Ok - thanks for the response...I will check out the apache redirects.

By any chance are you talking about the Secure Pages module?  When I turn that on, I can't even get to the registration page - so I have it disabled.  Otherwise, I have 80+ modules, but I am not aware of any that change the ssl settings...but that means little.

I found this: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2138?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.ext.subversion:subversion-commits-tabpanel

but all of those links are broken, we tracked the changes down here http://svn.civicrm.org/branches/v1.8/

but the code produced all sorts of new bugs, so we had to remove.

Yes, the previous person who reported this issue isolated it to the secure pages module. You might want to check that further

The wiki and issue tracker are now back online

thanks....but this problem was happening before I installed the secure pages module.  And I have subsequently disabled it.

my problem  is the form action for the form on the event registration and donation page is action="http://www.example.com/index.php?q=civicrm/event/register" and I am assuming that this needs to be https in order to advance to the confirmation screen....

I am trying to hack the code at this point since we are in trouble if we don't get online ticketing up....

But I am pretty sure the issue tracker was up - it was the links to the fixes that were down...http://fisheye.civicrm.org/viewrep/repos.name/branches/v1.8/CRM/Core/Config.php#10613

OK my husband sys admin figured it out - the base url was hard coded in the config file, once removed, it all works now...thanks for your time and thank you for a wonderful product!!!
