Importing into groups
September 30, 2007, 08:18:12 am
I'm trying to add a number of contacts already in the CiviCRM database into a group or tag. The set of contacts is not searchable by any criteria so I'm importing the set and selecting 'add to group' upon importing.

However, when the import completes, the system tells me that the import is successful but that none of the contacts have been tagged or added to the group. I've tried this with tags and groups, but neither worked.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks very much in advance.

James

Can you try to reproduce the below issue on our sandbox site: http://sandbox.civicrm.org/drupal/

and if so, please file an issue along with the import file

Are you serious? No one's going to upload email addresses into the sandbox site. I've been advised not to. Still having this happen every time.

I've tried creating a new group for the import, which doesn't get created.

Fortunately, I have some friends who work for Example.COM, Example.ORG, and Example.NET. They love to eat spam. I just imported their contacts and the new group was created successfully.

Lobo, I can confirm that I've observed this bug earlier today myself (on the same site as websynapse). I put it down to me being stupid and forgetting to create the group at the time, but I was pretty sure I'd done it. If you know of any issues fixed in 2.2.6 => 2.2.7 that this might be, that's probably it.

Ryan, thanks for confirming that I'm not demented. I'll upgrade our site to 2.2.7 and see if that makes any change before we investigate further.

Attached is a very basic contact import CSV. No it's not!

Lobo, "The upload folder is full. Please try a smaller file and/or contact an administrator."
