Been trying to get CiviCRM up and running and doing a bit of testing now rather than on a live system, and I seem to have come across a pretty problematic restriction...

I am using a reminder email to get people to renew membership after a year. If I send out a short email everything works fine. However, once the email hits a certain length, the member is emailed an error report from the Smart component of CiviCRM. A typical email looks like this (x used to mask paths, but 1 x replaces 1 character, so the string length remains unaltered):

I started off by adding a line of text to the same email template, so I know it has worked, but as soon as I got to a certain length it ceased.

Tried sending the full email as an existing template in New Mailing and it worked with no problems - only seems to be when CiviMember is using it to send the renewal notice that things get a little problematic! (Does that makes this better posted in CiviMember?)

Any advice on how to get around this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Seems to have worked. Well I guess I have a year to keep doing occaisonal tests before it has to send any out for real
