Importing Membership and Contribution and linking
March 01, 2010, 01:52:09 am
Hi - is there some route to create a link between an imported Membership and the related imported Contribution.

So I have

- imported the contact
- imported the Membership (insert)
- imported the Contributions (insert)

I can import a field in to both membership and contribution with some ref no that is relevant to both - will we then be able to join them somehow?

Or should I have been smarter and been able to do this through the import process?

Currently I don't think it is possible to link imported Contribution and Memberships.

Can you identify and remove the imported contributions?  I was able to link contributions to event registrations by importing csv files directly into the db.  Basically, I imported the participant records via civiCRM, then exported them in a way that included ALL the fields including the participant ID.  I then used this data to create csv data for both the civicrm_contribution table and the civicrm_participant_payment table and imported them both into the db via myphpadmin.

(Obviously I shut down the website to prevent conflicting db changes and backed up everything before I began.  Took a little effort, but worked in the end.)
