Using a COM object for a link
March 02, 2010, 03:34:50 am
Hi guys and girls,
I am hoping you can help me....and so far you always have!

We are starting a project with a customer De Goede Woning (for more detailed information check the wiki : http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/CiviCRM+project+at+De+Goede+Woning.
I need to create a link to a document management system, so that the users can click on a button in CiviCRM (contact template) and see the digital documents for that contact. The party that supplies the DMS developed an open interface, which is a DLL (a COM object). Now I think I have an issue, but I am not sure as this is all undeveloped territory for me (trained as an RPG programmer on the AS/400 many many moons ago :-)). As far as I can see I can not use the COM object on my webserver as this will be a Linux server. Ideally I would think I need to call the COM object on the client side? And could I do that with Javascript? Is that the right track or am I really making a fool of myself here?
 ???
