If a user is not granted "view all contacts" permission but has permission to edit group of contacts, the 'Total Amount' calcuation for contact is not correctly calculated. Avg Amount is correctly calculated. The # of Contributions are shown 12 instead of 3. It seems Total Amount is calulated as (12 * Avg Amount) that does not seem right. If you assign a user "view all contacts" permission all works fine.

Total Amount - $ 4,484.00   # Contributions - 12   Avg Amount - $ 373.66

Civicrm version 3.1.3. Same behavior was noticed in 2.2.2.
