Author Topic: Profile not in dropdown on contribute page (Read 865 times)

I feel like I am missing something very basic. We want to ask our donors for some additional info re: a contribution being made. I've created a custom data group to apply to contributions, and it shows in my Manage Profiles area, but when I try to insert it into the contribution page it is not appearing in the profiles dropdown. (Only a very few of the available profiles are.) Fields are active and permissions are good. What am I not understanding?

Just to confirm, steps for this are:
- create custom data group, Used for = Contribution
- add your custom field to this group
- create Profile (if needed)
- add a Profile Field which points to your "Additional Contribution Info" custom field
- make sure anonymous users have 'access all custom data' permission (Drupal permissions for CiviCRM)
- add the profile above to your contribution page - Configure Contribution Page >> Profiles

(Also make sure the profile you're using ONLY contains fields belonging to Contact, Individual, and / or Contribution.)

Excellent - that helped. I was not understanding that the profile generated from my data group was empty and needed to be pointed to the fields. (It didn't seem intuitive to create the fields in one place and have to then select them somewhere else.) Once I did that the profile showed where I could include it in the contribution page.
