Searching custom data for events
October 02, 2007, 06:10:24 am

Would you know when they will be able to do a search a custom data that was created for an "event"? Currently this feature is available to custom fields used for Contacts,Contributions, Memberships, and Event Participants at this time.

This is not currently on our roadmap. What are the use case(s) for this?

The reason why i would fine a use for it, unless you tell me another way, each event has an "event type"( class, lecture, film etc. ) and event owner, ( group 1, group 2)
since the event type only allows for one choice, i want to use a custom field and title it "event owner", then i would like to do a search for all events that  have an event type as " class" and with the event owner group 1"

any ideas?  thanks

Thanks for sharing your use case. This is not currently on our road map, but if this issue is important for your organization, you might considering contributing resources to make it happen in an upcoming release.

In general, "contribute resources" means one of three things:
(1) do the coding of the new feature yourself [the team provides tremendous support on IRC and on the dev email list to get you up to speed]
(2) cajole someone else to code the new feature (always good to look around at who else in the community has the same pain you do)
(3) pay someone to code the feature (good list of folks here: http://civicrm.org/professional)
