Is there an easy way to distinguish the new contacts on the participants list ?
March 09, 2010, 05:08:26 am
Most of the participants are existing contacts, but I'd like to be able to easily spot the ones that have been created during the registration (new contacts), because I'd need to  either contact them and ask them additionnal info or see if they need to be merged with an existing contact (eg they spelled differently their name...)

What about using civicrm_participant.source to store "new.contact online registration", "existing.contact online", "user manual registration", "logged in contact" ? and let the source visible in the participant's list ?
(probably to display it as a class, so I can set the icon differently if it's new.contact or existing.contact) ?

Also, I think it would be good to add into the source in civicrm_contact either "event self registration" or something easy to spot. Rational: Joe spammer registers, my event manager deletes the participant instead of the contact (because that's easier and her goal is to have a clean participant list, not a clean contact db ;), and I end up with Mr. "buy viagra" in the CRM, without any obvious way of spotting it.

Should be possible to do this with a hook and update a custom field for your immediate needs

Hi

Useful if I modify the trunk and contribute back instead of a hook or too specific ?

for now using a hook might be better. seems a bit too specific (IMO)

I think it is a good idea Xavier, I can certainly see me using it in the (not so near) future.
