Truncating Upcoming Events Block

Hi all,

Trying to limit the upcoming events block to list only the next 10 events. This use to work in 3.0.x:

But junglecoder (created the above post) and I have tried both of the old solutions and neither seems to be working anymore. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to limit the upcoming events block to 10 in in 3.1.x?
