Assigning roles for Civireport
March 11, 2010, 01:00:26 pm
I am using Civi 2.2.8 and have not upgraded to newest version.
First question, if we have multiple events listed under multiple event directors is there a way (maybe with the new versions) that the event director can only see their events and not get into the back end of the site and see other event directors events?  Maybe assign a special role that CiviEvent will recognize different event directors?
If some of these features are in the newer versions of Civi how do we go about downloading a new version and not have it break our site/program?  Every time we upgrade to a newer version our site and program always break/crash and we lose our database, information within the program.
Thanks for the help.

in 3.1.3, there is an event acl hook that you can implement to allow certain folks to view certain events. We've used this in multisite installs. I'll ask the person who worked on this to document it (davej)

if you have issues with upgrades, you might want to consider hiring someone from http://civicrm.org/professional/ to walk you through one upgrade and ensure you dont lose your data.
