Sorting activities by "assigned to" is missing when upgrading

We are upgrading from 2.2 to 3.0.  Our users noticed that when you go to the CiviCRM home page, and see the activities listing, you can no longer sort by the "assigned to" column.  We cannot find any search facility that allows us to sort by this field.  Note that you also cannot sort by "with," but that is not an issue for us.

Was this sort option removed in the upgrade to 3.0?  Is there a way to restore it?

Both assignees and targets can have multiple contacts and hence the sort option was removed

Currently not possible to restore it. Depends on how you define sort order with multiple contacts. If important to you, consider hiring someone to extend the current code. The developer can contact us on IRC for help/assistance

This feature is an important work flow management tool for my site.  We use this sorting to be able to identify the activities that are assigned to a person.

If I can't sort on the column, there should at least be a way for me to get a report either sorted by "assigned to" or for a particular "assigned to" person.  How can I identify all activities assigned to a person?
