Organization registered for event

I have organization members and individual members. I also have contacts set up as "employee of" my organization members. Somehow one of my users managed to register for an event on-line, and the even registration and credit card payment wound up being associated with his employer's organizaton record (he didn't have an individual record yet).

Two questions:

1. How can I keep this from happening again? I didn't know that a Joomla login could be connected with an organization record, so I'm not sure how he managed to get his organization signed up for the event.

2. What do I do with this registration? I'd like to move it from the organization record (his employer) to the individual record (him), but I don't want to lose the payment information. When I try to delete the event registration associated with the organization record, CiviCRM warns me that I'll lose payment info.

Hi,

Same issue here on a 3.3.5 site. The Individual and the Organization had the same email address in this case. The event registration form uses a profile and the info entered through the profile ended up on the Org record, including the job_title field, which should be specific to Individuals.

The profile used on the reg form has "What to do upon duplicate match" set to "Update the matching contact". The profile has a mix of Contact, Individual and Participant fields.

Dedupe rules:
- Individual default strict: email only
- Org default strict: email only.
