Not possible to search for relationships for subtypes
March 14, 2010, 06:38:42 am
I have set up a relationship between two contact subtypes (both based on organisation) but this relationship doesn't appear as an option in the Relationship Type select box on the Advanced Search page. The relationship and contact subtypes have been enabled and the relationship has been successfully used to connect two organisations.

This behaviour is happening in drupal 6.16 and civicrm 3.1.3 and has been replicated on the Drupal/CiviCRM demo site.

The process I followed was:
- set up organisation subtype A
- set up organisation subtype B
- create relationship between A and B
- create organisations in subtype A and B
- open advanced search

Is there a step I have missed? Note that all other relationships are between Individuals and other organisation subtypes so it seems to be a subtype to subtype relationship that is not appearing.

EDIT: also building a search using Search Builder for [organisation subtype A] + relationship=[name of organisation belonging to subtype B] returns all Contacts in the database.

Thanks,
Tim
