"Is the standalone folder writeable?"

Hey all--

I've been trying to install this for over two hours using any number of possible solutions.  Starting from scratch, using "3.1.3 Drupal PHP5 26406," I keep getting an "Is the standalone folder writeable?" error on the installation.

First of all, I'm trying to install for Drupal, downloaded the Drupal .tar, have verified it 100 times, and it doesn't come with a /standalone directory, as the error says the user needs permission for /sites/all/modules/civicrm/standalone.  The /sites/all dir and all subdirs are set to 777, so it should be able to writable if the install needs it.   /standalone isn't packed with the .tar, and I have yet to see any installation instructions for Drupal that say to create it.

So, do I need to?  Are the files mislabled on sourceforge?  I have a host of issues even after I create it, but I wanted to check on this point given that the install screen says "Standalone CiviCRM Installer" when I'm pulling it straight out of the Drupal pack.

Sounds like installer is thinking its an standalone installation. Try clearing the browser session and visit install url again. And make sure that install url does NOT have "mode=standalone" in the url.

Following instructions as per this doc - http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Drupal+Installation+Guide, will guide you better.
