Signing up for Multiple Memberships in the Same Form
October 04, 2007, 04:17:44 pm
Hello,
I would like to allow people to sign up for multiple memberships at the same time. I am currently using a CiviContribute page with $0 minimum. This displays all the memberships but with radio buttons. Can they be check boxes? Is there a different way of going about this that will allow what I'm looking for?
Thanks,
Colin

Colin - The current online membership signup code doesn't support multiple simultaneous signups. Some possible solutions:

* One membership at a time, but with explanatory text and a link on the thank-you page to go back and signup for another one (clumsy but no work to implement).

* If the memberships are free (can't quite tell from your post) - then use a custom checkbox field in a regular Profile (instead of an online contrib page w/ membership block).  Then write some code which implements the civicrm "hook". It evaluates the custom field and creates membership record(s) via existing APIs.

* Develop a patch for the existing membership code which allows admins to specify single vs. multiple membership signups allowed, and then handles calculation of fees / membership record creation for the multiples case.

Dave,
Thanks for your reply. The memberships are free, so I think that the second option will work well for me.

Thanks again,
Colin
