Spacing problem on 5160 mailing labels

We just deployed a client with a new Civi installation.

We've found that the 5160 label format did not correctly fit the label stock.

I had to adjust label.php to add spacing between the labels.

Is it expected that this should have worked without modification?
Is there some other configuration option that could have affected the label space?

can you post a diff of your changes

we got those from another open source library. as folks have been reporting issues, we've been patching them (but not testing them)
