Election Campaign Supporters Page
March 19, 2010, 08:53:23 am
I think CiviCRM can do what I need and I haven't found another Drupal module that can do what I want.  That being said, I am not sure the fastest and easiest way to set up what I need and I do not have much time to do it in.

The quick needs:

I am developing a campaign for a pilot's union candidate website.  The pilot is running for a union office position and the election is coming up.  I am working on all of the other pages within a Drupal installation as we speak, but I have not been able to figure out how to set up a supporter's page that shows the following:

Pilot's Name
Base, Aircraft, Seat, Division
Prior union work
Comments

I will need to prsent the information in that order, or similar.  And, of course, there needs to be a form that visitors can use to fill out as a supporter.

Thanks in advance for any help.

not clear how much you want to try and find an 'out of the square' approach to an 'out of the box' solution but if you don't want to move this over to Drupal side or do lots of customisation one option might be to expose the info about all the candidates via a Search Profile

then you provide a link from the person they want to support to a form that creates the relationship on the fly - or perhaps let them to use an autocomplete field to enter name of candidate (they would have to remember that name perhaps)

the module by Father Shawn may have some use to you in this regard http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,12618.0.html

Thanks Peter.

I will go check out Father Shawn's work and see if I can figure out a way to make it happen.  I knew this setup is not typical, but I figured it could be done easiest through CiviCRM from what i have seen thus far.

Thanks again.

Might be helpful if you spell out what the outcomes are you are wanting in terms of this 'supporter' status. It can be hard for others to recommend routes if we aren't sure where you are heading on this.

If this is a campaign for only one pilot, every supporter is the supporter of that pilot, not sure you need to keep the relationship.

The easiest might be to have a profile that contains the fields you want, and this automatically provides the listing of the supporters and the form to sign up.

On the advanced profile, put them into a group "supporter" so that's easier to filter and do mailing and whatelse.
