Hello, I'm a new user of CiviCRM and I would know if CiviCRM offers the possibility to be used as a "mail list server"? I mean, can I send a mail from my usual mail program to a server address which will automatically forward the mail to all members of my CiviCRM list ? If not, does an optional component exist ? If not, would it be possible to use an external program which could use my CiviCRM member list ? Thanks a lot.

There is currently no "list-serve" functionality within CiviCRM / CiviMail - and it is not on our roadmap. You could potentially create some type of "integration" w/ a 3rd-party list-serve app using our APIs. I'm not aware of anyone having done this as of yet.

ebo,

If you manage to do this I'd be really interested. Currently mailman and majordomo use an integrated db but Sympa might be an option.

I don't use it, but you might look at http://www.mail2forum.com/forums/index.php as a modification to phpbb to give list server functionality.

We instead just setup a Yahoo group.
