From front-end: user edits user profile, gets error, changes happen anyway

Hey guys -

I'm running Joomla 1.0.13, CiviCRM 1.8.10954, PHP5.

I've created a profile for a user to edit as part of the Joomla user registration process and as a menu item. if they edit a field and choose save, they get "You do not have permission to execute this url." But if they go back to the profile, they see "Your changes have been saved." and the indeed, they do show up.

What am I missing here?

Hi,  I am having the same problem as the original poster.  I have configured everything in Joomla (1.0.15) as described in the instructions.   However, I have a separate Profile page I use to sign up Volunteers.  I properly edited the index.php and created the Joomla Menu Item for CivicRM, and enter the proper parameters.  The page shows up.  If I hit Cancel, it gives "You do not have permission to execute this url."  If I fill in the data and hit Send, it also gives "You do not have permission to execute this url."  If I click on the Profile menu, it says Thank You your information has been saved, and indeed it has. My CivicContribution page has been working fine for months, but now is giving the same error. Any ideas?

The alternative is to use the Profile Standalone code, which does work except when a required field is not entered, the browser tries to go to the administrator page, which the user obviously does not have access to.

Any ideas?

I figured out the problem.  I have the sh404SEF module loaded for Joomla on.  I went into its configuration under components and set CivicRM to skip, and it started to work fine.
