Importing individuals w/ household data does not set "Use Household Address"
October 05, 2007, 12:38:04 pm
Import in 1.8 does not seem to respect the new "Use Household Address" field. (introduced through this item).

I just did an import of two individuals, specifying one column as household name (through the "relationship" option of "household member of" -> "household name") and specifying address columns as household address data (ditto). The import file is attached (as txt).

This successfully created a household, applied the address data to the household, and created the proper relationships between the two individuals and the household. But it did not set the "Use Household Address" field for those two individuals. This means that the address does not show up when viewing one of those individuals.

This behavior occurs on the official CiviCRM demo installation.

Does anybody run into this functionality? Does this seem like a bug to you?

No its not a bug in import. Currently you cannot use "Use Household Address"  feature with import. You will have to manually edit each contact record and check "Use Household Address" option.

Ok, so that is not a bug, does that make it a "feature limitation"? I'm not sure what the noun is, but is it legit to submit as a request against 1.9?

Yes it is a feature limitation. Please feel free to submit a patch that fixes the above problem along with the issue if you would like to see this addressed and resolved in the near future.
