When user signs up using civi profile, the info is mapped to a differnt user

I am having a bad issue. when a user signs up for the site, and log in, they are seeing the profile information from another user (in which they are able to edit). the user info is saved correctly in the database, but just showing the wrong address/name etc.

Any idea why these are not syncing properly?

More details:

Sally creates an account. logs in drupal. they see a link on her profile that says

"View Contact Record" with a URL /civicrm/contact/view?reset=1&cid=481

where cid=481 is actually Bob

but if I do a contact search, I can find Sally's profile with all the correct infromation in it with a cid=505.

why does it show 481 data in her profile instead of her actual information held in cid 505?

Synch uses primary email address in CiviCRM linked to email address entered for Drupal user. Do Sally and Bob have the same email address?

No, i've checked that. Any time anyone new signs up, they are somehow mapped to a differnt user.

No idea what's happening or why :-(

Your best bet is to try and recreate your setup on the public demo and see if you can recreate the problem. Or possibly hire somone from the Professional Services listing (link above ) to help diagnose and fix.
