My sites interact with all UN representatives, so we need all the countries of the UN. Further, UN Representatives like their countries addressed exactly as listed on their Business cards, so for example "Ireland" won't do for the "Republic of Ireland".
Is there a way I can enter Countries when the CiviCRM drop down list does not list them?

You could use a custom translation and simply translate the country names to their desired form.

Or you can modify/insert records in the civicrm_country DB table via MySQL / phpMyAdmin.  This is the source of the drop-down list and display values.

My organisation is trialing CiviCRM for organisation wide use and one of the things we want to know,
is what can a mere mortal with site admin privileges do.
We are hosted and supported by CSOD.
Do I have access to the civicrm_country DB table via MySQL / phpMyAdmin ?
or is this something I'd have to ask CSOD to do ?
