Profiles for contributions not showing consistently

We have an Authorize.net contribution page and a Paypal Standard contribution page. I have created a profile of custom fields that should apply to each and I've included it in each contribution page. When I test, Authorize.net contributions show all the profile fields I entered but PayPal standard contributions do not show that profile at all.  Since one of the fields is permission to publicly acknowledge the donation, it's important that we have access to the data entered. Is there a way to remedy this?

Are you sure you have added profile for Contribution page? Can you provide some screenshots etc.

Here are screenshots, one at a time. This one shows part of the profile as it appears on both contribution pages (Authorize.net, PayPal standard).

Here is a screenshot of the profile as it shows on the screen for an actual Authorize.net contribution. (So for Authorize.net, the profile is working.)

Here is a screenshot of an actual PayPal standard contribution. Note that for this type of contribution, the profile information is missing, even though it did appear for the person making the donation--so we have no way to see if he opted to have us publicly acknowledge his gift.

I've investigated more, and I think I see the problem, which I wanted to post here in case others have the same issue.

The custom data that made up these profiles is set to be "used for" just the contribution type "Donations Authorize.net".

Initially we had just one donation type for all Web donations, but we changed our existing donation type to be "Donations Authorize.net," and added another one for "Donations PayPal." That affected the custom data.

I don't see a way to edit the custom data group to make it apply to "any" - do I have to delete it and start over?

deleting and starting over is the safest. your other option is to change the db directly. a few things u'll need to remember:

1. update the right entry in civicrm_custom_group
2. truncate civicrm_cache
3. delete the sessions
