Drupal backup problem
April 05, 2010, 01:22:03 am
Hi,

I'm having some trouble rationalising the way some permissions are set.

I've done a clean install (3.1.3) and restart at which point I've noticed that the apache user has written template files in sites/default/files/civicrm/templates_c/en_US/en_US with permissions such as those below:

drwxr-x--x 3 www-data www-data 4096 2010-04-04 20:13 %%02

The implication is that backing up these files is not possible for the original installer without root or group access.

It's not a problem for me in a test installation, but it does cause problems in a production system, where full access is not possible.

Does anyone know whether this by design and whether an easy solution exists?

Thanks

choster

As far as I know, civicrm doesn't change file permissions; what you're seeing is either a default permission set being applied or your host "fixing" permissions to a more secure setting.

Fortunately, the files in templates_c are cache versions that are generated when you run Civi. Not only do you not need to back them up, but the upgrade instructions, for example, direct you to empty them.
