Searching for recurring brings up ALL contributions
April 05, 2010, 12:07:03 pm
How does CiviCRM determine what is a recurring contribution?

We have 2 contribution pages. Our PayPal standard page accepts both single and monthly donations; our Authorize.net accepts only single donations. Staff enters check donations manually.

When I check the box "Find Recurring Contributions," the hit list contains every single contribution in the system - PayPal single/recurring, Authorize.net single, and check contributions. This, clearly, is incorrect.

Do we need to set something up differently?

Also - as I import records from our old databases - how can I mark the the recurring transactions (both as they were initiated, and as they were debited each month) so that they will show up on a search of this type?

i'm pretty sure its determined if the user checks the 'recurring contribution" flag on the contribution page.

you might want to check the query generated and see why the find recurrign contributions returns all contributions. I suspect a bug in the left join maybe?

CiviCRM's support for offline recurring contributions is minimal and weak IMO, and can be improved (support in creating and managing recurring, importing recurring contributions etc). if you can contribute patches to improve the support for this and/or sponsor a developer to do the needful that would be great and highly appreciated by the community

Only one of the 2 contribution pages even offers the option of recurring donations, and most of these records are not from that page -- so I suspect this is a bug in the search feature. I wish I did have the time/skills to fix it.
