No MX records found
April 07, 2010, 09:59:18 am
HI there...
I'm new to civismtp and have followed the set up instructions, but I'm getting the error:

"No MX records found for http://email.greenlane-sbn.org"

I set up my mx records several days ago, so propagation should not be the issue.  when I test my civismtp settings, everything else seems to check out ok

    * Civimail User Check : successfully authenticated.
    * SMTP Authorization Check : SMTP Authorization Succeeded! This proves that the SMTP server is up and that the SMTP Authorization is working with the SMTP username and SMTP password you have entered.
    * Email Domain Check : No MX records found for http://email.greenlane-sbn.org
    * SMTP Account settings updated for GreenLane-SBN

I have checked with my hosting provider, and they have confirmed that my mx records for email.greenlane-sbn.org are set up correctly.

I don't have much knowledge around this area at all -- so maybe my logic is incorrect.  Here's what I have:
I have a mail server, mail.greenlane-sbn.org that I have set up through my provider to handle all my organizations email accounts.

i have an mx record for this, MX 0 mail.greenlane-sbn.org

I have added email.greenlane-sbn.org for civismtp.  I have added three mx records for this,
MX 5    civismtp.uas.coop
MX 10    civismtp2.uas.coop
MX 10    civismtp3.uas.coop

thanks for any help anyone can offer.

I found the problem --

in my civismtp settings, I had designated "http://email.greenlane-sbn.org" for my mailserver; not "email.greenlane-sbn.org"

doh.
