CiviCRM would work for us?
April 08, 2010, 01:10:08 pm
Hi,

We're evuating CiviCRM as a possible solution for our needs.  Here's what we need:

* A searchable directory of companies and organizations
* Each organization can fill out a web form will all of the information they want publicly available
* The organization can also join as a gold member and list more information that only *other* gold members can see
* Single Sign On, meaning like the user needs to be sync with Joomla or Drupal.
* The organization can also have associated users, and can assign those users the ability to modify the organization profile
* The site admin can view listings of all organizations and all associated members, and create email announcements to go all general members as well as only gold members
* The site admin can view reports showing new organizations and inviduals signed up over a date range
* Any preference or difference between the joomla & drupal versions

Is CiviCRM a good solution for this?

Thanks for your help.

Eileen

Generally Drupal is better supported. Joomla has a easier learning curve (as a CMS) but has limits in it's permissioning.
Make today the day you step up to support CiviCRM and all the amazing organisations that are using it to improve our world - http://civicrm.org/contribute

Thanks so much for your replies!

Question: If the same questions were asked with CiviCRM on top of Joomla - would the ACL and permissions requirements be impossible?

We have a lot of Joomla customization experience but little Drupal experience.

Thanks Again.

ACL is not available with Joomla, only with Drupal. I'd remmend Drupal for your permission requirements but it also seems that CiviCRM is more stable in combination with Drupal judging by the issues here.
