Newbie database upgrade in phpmyadmin question
October 11, 2007, 02:36:50 am
So I've got the following instructions for upgrading the database from 1.8-1.9 in phpmyadmin:

   1. open phpMyAdmin
   2. choose the database where civicrm resides in the top left corner's pull-down menu
   3. choose the SQL tab in the top of the right frame
   4. in the "Location of the textfile" area, choose Browse...
   5. in the popup window, browse to the .sql file that is included with the Mambo upgrade
   6. hit the Go button!

Except that in step 4, my phpmyadmin installation doesn't have a 'Location of the textfile' area in the SQL tab, only a large text area in which to enter the SQL query. Any ideas why?

Am I right in saying that if I open up the SQL upgrade file in a text editor, copy and paste it into the text area and hit 'Go', I will achieve the same results?

Cheers.

James.

Hmm - there should be a second part of the page below the large text area. This lower area has a "Browse" button etc.

If your version of phpMyAdmin doesn't have this, you can paste the contents of the file into the text area and run it.

Thanks very much Dave, for some reason my version of phpmyadmin (2.10.2) doesn't have the option to browse for sql scripts. As long as I can add the script to the window then that's fine.
