Configuring Outbound Email Just Hangs

As I was working my way through the Configuration check list I came to Configure Outbound Email. After filling in information I pressed save.  Now I am stuck in an eternal "Loading..." mode waiting to see the next page.

I aborted the configuration menu and now every time I try to Configure outbound mail.  It once again tries to load the page, but just hangs there trying to load.  Any suggestions?

Hope you got through this. I saw that no one had responded to the post so I thought I'd simply check in with you to see if everything had worked out ok for you.
