Report displaying contact information for members of smart group?

Hi there,

I've been working on a report that displays contact information (including some custom fields) for members of a specific group.  The group is a smart group of all 'Funders' (a subtype of Organization).  The group is a mailing list and it's visibility is 'User and User Admin' only.

I got the report working (it wasn't overly difficult) and then linked to it from the home page of my site (for those with access).  The next time I go to run the report, it comes up with no results.  So I go back into the report, change the group filter to a different group, then save, then change it back, save again, and the report works.

I've gone through this process a couple of times - has anyone had this issue before with CiviReport and smart group filters?

Thanks for any suggestions or ideas!

Hello there,

I'm working at the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens and we are encountering a similar problem.  We are using Joomla and Civi 3.1.3.

The report in question is a membership detail report.  Diane, the extremely skillful database admin created some smart groups to be used as part of this report and made them available on the dashboard.  The problem and solution is pretty much the same as described above.

We are going to sidestep the issue by making contact custom data available in the membership report but it seems like a common problem and I'd be happy to provide more information / file bug report if you think it is necessary.

1. can u reproduce this reliably

2. are there other users of the system during this time

3. seems like its a caching issue bug and we should definitely fix. if you can reproduce reliably, please ping deepak or me on irc and we can take a look (that said, we are pretty deep with school work this week, so next week might be better!)

I had the same issue on a recently upgraded 3.2/drupal install: a report that showed no result when a smart group was chosen. I switched to a different (non-smart) group that showed results, and then switched back and now there are results, so I think a caching issue is a good guess. I do notice that changing the criteria doesn't change the url, so maybe that's relevant...

I'm also having the exact same problem when trying to run reports for smart groups.  I'm running 3.25 on Drupal.  Does anyone have a workaround they can share?

This issue seemed so common that I thought I'd have a poke around Jira.  It is indeed filed as an issue: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-7207

Have just asked for an update on the ticket in Jira.

We "think" this issue was fixed for 3.3.2 in this issue:
http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-7246

If folks running later versions are still experiencing this specific problem, then they should provide exact steps to reproduce and investigate / debug as much as possible.

The client that originally reported this problem for me is now on 3.2.5.  I don't think the problem is still occuring.  I will point them here to verify.
