After Changing Language to other than default many menu templates are blank

Hi, I have just recently installed civicrm 3.1.3 under xampp and then on our life server. Having changed the default language to dutch and german everything worked well on xampp, but on our life server we don't get any template shown where contact data is involved like "new houshold", "new group", New individual", whereas "New activity" and others show up just fine. All installation criterias as mention in civicrm installation guide are being met.
Since our users are mainly kids and not really good in English, I'll desperately need this localisation going to run.
Any help would be more than welcome!!

Hi there,

since there is noone responsing to my problem, let me put the question in other words: Is there anyone who can tell me what civicm does when processing the language .mo files, or which parts of civcrm are involved in processing indivdual language settings that are not when settings are default (US)English?

Pleeease!!

Hi,

It may be a permission issue with the directory where smarty stores its templates, e.g. templates_c  directory. In it there is en_US and other active language codes. Although usually when there is a permission problem, CiviCRM throws a very explicit error.

Otherwise, in general, the translation  system reads files in l10n/xx_YY/  in order to translate the strings. The "mo" file is loaded in memory when CiviCRM runs. Maybe check if your PHP configuration has a large enough memory limit?
