Unable to create profile after updating to 3.1.4

I cannot create a profile anymore. Up until the "Administer -> Customize -> CiviCRM Profile" there isn't a problem. After clicking on the "New CiviCRM Profile" button, I get a screen that looks like there's no CSS loaded, no buttons, and only a place to enter a new name. I've tried this on both Firefox 3.6 and Chrome with identical screens. It works in the demo (which is still at 1.5.14 by the way!).

Attached is the ENTIRE screen shot.

Running in Firebug debug console has the following two messages:

I've gone through Global Settings and "resaved". No custom URLs, etc. CiviGrant and CiviCase are disabled, and there are many custom data fields in the system for individuals, but other than that, I think it's a pretty vanilla system.

I'm baffled as to what to try next and would appreciate any suggestions.

Yeah, I just ran into this. There's a glitch in the helpfile for that page that's throwing it off. I'll log an issue shortly.

Attached find a corrected file. You should upload it to:
/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/templates/CRM/UF/Form/

You'll need to rename it to: Group.hlp (remove the .txt -- needed to do that in order to upload to the forums). It should replace the existing file in that location.

Thanks, that solved the problem!

Is there anything I could have done to figure this out directly? (Just want to learn more about tracking down problems, etc).

I corrected the Profile settings problem with the Group.hlp file, but it doesn't seem to "stick"/appear in any form. See http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,13863.0.html

Hey Guys,

I'm having the exact same problem -- except this is a new install of 3.1.4 -- I can not create new profiles.

I tried the solution presented here and renaming and installing the Group.hlp file to /administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/templates/CRM/UF/Form/

No change,  I still can not create a profile.

Maybe I'm missing something from not upgrading from a previous version of CiviCRM.

Should I down grade?  And if so, what's the procedure?

What are you getting when you try to create a profile?

Also -- 3.1.5 was released last week, and fixes the Group.hlp problem from above. Try upgrading to that and see if the problem is corrected. I've been using profiles no problem with all versions of 3.1.x (once the Group.hlp fix was applied).
