Custom data entry forms

I'm attempting to deploy custom data entry forms via profiles. When I link to the profile, my (account login) contact data is pre-populated into the fields. I want to be able to add new contacts through this profile - advice on how to do this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I was using <site root>/civicrm/profile/edit?reset=1&gid=N instead of <site root>/civicrm/profile/create?reset=1&gid=N The latter of which gives me what I want.
