Moving Joomla Install - No luck after hours of trying and exhausting forum posts
April 20, 2010, 09:21:54 am
I think I have exhausted forum posts and documentation, and have been at this for approx 6 hours, so getting desperate, and would be extremely grateful for any assistance.  I am trying to move civicrm 3.0.2 in Joomla! 1.5.15 installation to a new host.

I have followed: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location

and this thread: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?action=search2

Tried deleting this:  media/civicrm/upload/Config.IDS.ini
Also tried modifying it to show correct paths

Set civicrm_domain config backend to null
Visited <siteurl>/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/updateConfigBackend&reset=1

Tried copying new values directly into civicrm_domain config backend
Visited <siteurl>/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/updateConfigBackend&reset=1

Still get this:

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'Please make sure the IDS/tmp folder is writable' in /home/building/public_html/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages/IDS/Monitor.php:187 Stack trace: #0 /home/building/public_html/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/IDS.php(139): IDS_Monitor->__construct(Array, Object(IDS_Init)) #1 /home/building/public_html/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/Invoke.php(78): CRM_Core_IDS->check(Array) #2 /home/building/public_html/administrator/components/com_civicrm/admin.civicrm.php(49): CRM_Core_Invoke::invoke(Array) #3 /home/building/public_html/administrator/components/com_civicrm/admin.civicrm.php(22): civicrm_invoke() #4 /home/building/public_html/libraries/joomla/application/component/helper.php(162): require_once('/home/building/...') #5 /home/building/public_html/administrator/includes/application.php(136): JComponentHelper->renderComponent() #6 /home/building/public_html/administrator/index.php(67): JAdministrator->dis in /home/building/public_html/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages/IDS/Monitor.php on line 187

Grateful for Help?

I finally tried commenting out line 74 of CRM/Core/Invoke.php as lobo suggested in another thread.  Now I don't get the error when accessing the component, but there is no CiviCRM menu, just a message saying there are no activities scheduled and option to add new contact.

Uncommenting brings back same error.

Any ideas?

Did you:
empty your template cache directory? -- /media/civicrm/templates_c/
reset the config backend (very important):
http://<joomla_site>/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/updateConfigBackend&reset=1

if you're not getting menus, that's usually an indication that your resource url setting is incorrect. the reset link should get that going. also check global settings > resource urls.

I did empty templates_c, and when I try to reset the config backend, I get the fatal error IDS/tmp.  If I comment out line 74, no error, but no menu either, so I can't go to global settings since there is no menu.

I must be doing something else wrong?

with your database in place (and duly backed up), you could try installing civi v3 on top of the existing installation. that might correct whatever settings are still causing issues. if you've made custom mods to files you'll want to make sure you have those ready to-implement.

I had to go through the process again from the beginning, and then I got the error and solution at this thread, which might help you.

Good luck,
