Is CiviCRM good for us?
April 20, 2010, 10:27:40 am
Hi everybody,
First let's introduce myself. I'm in charge of IT in EMDH (Children of the world - Human Rights) a french NGO acting in psychosocial care for children and promoting the children rights. we are basedc in Paris and working over about 10 countries.
Even if the organisation is pretty old (started in 1986) we started to structurate IT last year.
We tried few unssuccessfull way to manage our sponsorship project and as I discover CiviCRM recently (I guess it was about the Stallman article) I was wondering if it was "The Solution".
So the purpose is the following, we mainly have institutional fund from the european commission, the french foreign office, the UN... and we want to increase our parternship with company as sponsor. Thus we need to get a decent tool to monitor our partners.
*We need to identify our potential partner (from the address to their sponsorship strategy, what thematics, geographical area are they interested in, which of our thematics and area could match with their sponsor strategy....)
*We need to follow each partner, it means monitor their submission calendar, what programm we submit, is it fully paid, our history with them, the amount per programm, the calendar of the report...
*we are currently dealing with about 300 partners
*we need alerts
*we might plan to merge our donators into the same database (currently we are using another database software, that is overdimensionned for our structure)

So, do you think I should proudly came back into the fundrasing room smiling and tell them "OK WE GOT IT?"

thanks in advance,
Regards,
Jeremie
N.B. I'm starting to be familiar with drupal, I used it since a year for the corporate website

Hi Jeremie,
CiviCRM can handle most of our requirements nicely. You can store the sequence of interactions with your partners as activities. You can configure any number of 'activity types' for things like 'submit program', 'submit report' etc. and define custom fields for each of these activity types which can store dates, monetary amounts, documents etc.

Scheduled / overdue activities are highlighted in a dashboard, but there is not built in 'alert' (i.e. send an email about scheduled or overdue task) as of yet (although would be pretty easy to add a script to do this).

Hi Dave,
Thanks a lot for your replie!
That's what I was hoping.
Anyway it is installed on test at the office, I'll try to config few things and show it to the fundraising manager as soon as she comes back from holidays

Jeremie
