Export all emails in system
April 21, 2010, 11:32:32 am
I'm taking over for someone who left and starting to learn CiviCRM.  One problem the org has been having and never fixed is a lot of bounces and problems in the mailing dept.

So I want to use MailChimp just to simplify.  I am trying to extract all the email addresses from the system to start doing mailings with MailChimp, but for the life of me I can't figure it out.  When I run various reports I cannot get the # of email addresses which I know are in there.  For example, there is a mailing group I can select and it will send a mailing to 9,000 people.  But there is no report I can run that gives me anything approaching 9,000 emails.

Is there somewhere I can simply get the mysql file and extract emails from there?

Thanks for any help here.  I think I need to hire someone to do customizations and fixes. (The person who's been running it for years must have put up with a lot of problems and had a lot of workarounds, rather than just hiring someone to fix stuff and make it work in a straightforward way...)

Hi,
This won't get you the mysql file and, depending on how many "location" types of email addresses there are per contact, may be a bit clumsy, but couldn't you use the search builder to extract all the email addresses? You would search for email is not null for Individuals, Orgs and Households and then you could export them to a csv file. Not the most elegant solution but I think it would work.

Hope this helps,
Cynthia

Brilliant!  Search builder!  What a concept.  (Total newbie here...)

Thanks so much!
