I am going to start working on this Point of Sale feature, but will need some guidance from developers on how to implement this:

Is there specific developer documentation that I should read first?

Also, any thoughts and suggestions on how it should integrate and which tables might be affected and/or if new tables should be created would be greatly appreciated.
