typing into a date field
April 22, 2010, 12:24:44 pm
Hi,

As far as I can tell, date fields in CiviCRM require the user to click on the calendar pop-up to enter the date.  This is rather tedious for dates that are not close to the current date -- for example, entering a birthdate requires the user to hunt-and-click for three separate elements: year, month, and date.  Some users enjoy this visual interface, but for efficiency it is much faster to type e.g. "4/24/1969" and move on.

1. Is there any way to enable the user to type dates into these fields?
2. If not, is there any work under way to add this functionality?
3. If not, is this functionality something the core devs would consider adding, if there were someone to sponsor it or code it?

Thanks,
Allen

Okay, somehow I did not see this other thread: "Replacing date picker"

My question clearly belongs there.  I'll follow that thread.  Please don't post responses here.

Thanks,
Allen
