Membership directory

I followed the directions at the link below to create a simple members directory where members can search for other members. The CiviCRM manuals describe this, but I don't know how to complete it.

Manual page: http://en.flossmanuals.net/CiviCRM/CapturingExposing. See the section called Sharing information

If you go to the section of the manual page it talks about exposing the directory by using a URL like: http://www.myorganization.org/civicrm/profile?reset=1&gid=N, where N is the identifier of the profile. Our URLs are of the form https://www.myorganization.org/drupal/...

What should the URL look like?

Also, when I "Use profile create mode" the screen that appears allows me to enter and Save a member, but not search for one. Is this what I should expect?

If you need more information, let me know.

That is correct - create does not allow you to search. If you start from your create url you should be able to modify the bit after civicrm to match the url you mention

Now that I've created the profile for membership directory (that supposedly allows you to search for people), how do I expose the profile? How do I allow others to access it?
