Hey I'm new to Civicrm and am trying to set up a contact database.  Is there anywhere I can see some dummy data or examples of what formats work and which don't.  As just an example I got thrown for a little bit of a loop, due to the fact that our old database stored the country as USA while Civicrm seems to want United States.

So essentially what I am looking for is a web page or some documentation which has

Radio Buttons: should they be imported as Yes / No or 0 / 1
States:  MD or Maryland

etc... I'm sure there are a lot of things that I'm missing.  But I've spent the last hour or so doing google searches on "Civicrm" +contacts +format and have also looked at http://en.flossmanuals.net/CiviCRM/HandlingContacts and http://en.flossmanuals.net/CiviCRM/ContactsAddingAndImporting and while I got lots of useful information, it wasn't quite what I was looking for.

recommend you set up some data in civicrm as you want it for you contacts, then export it -then you get what you need to do the import. hth
