Hello all, I'm new to civicrm and joomla (and php for that matter), but I'm familiar with other programming languages and web frameworks.  This problem has been quite vexing so far, and google has not turned up much.

Basically, I have Joomla and Civicrm properly installed (after a bit of tweaking), on a hosted Windows server that I have somewhat limited control over.  When I try to manage Civicrm from the Admin interface, or if I try to get to the civicrm dashboard from the front-end, I get the following error:

I had assumed this was some sort of write permissions error, but the hosting service does have the ability to set permissions for particular directories, so I added \media\civicrm\templates_c\ to the list with full read/write/execute permissions.  Didn't fix the problem though.  And, when I browsed to the directory in question, there was a directory called \en_US\ConfigAndLog which contained the log file, CiviCRM.[long hex number].log, which had the following error:

However, I'm logged in both as a user on the front end, and as the superadmin on the backend, so that doesn't make sense to me.

Any suggestions?

unfortunately most of us are on *nix platforms, which makes it a wee bit hard for us to respond to windows related issues

Check with your host perhaps, and also confirm that you have write access to sub-directories within the cache (and other) directory.

That or get a Linux host.
