CiviEvent entry won't update - Solution Found
April 26, 2010, 04:47:33 pm
I'm trying to correct and update an existing CiviEvent item. I can get into the Configure pages, and change (in this case) the time and add a location, but when I go to click on Save and Done, nothing happens. The only way I can get out of the page is with the Firefox Back arrow and then the Event shows up unchanged.
I see elsewhere that Java must be enabled to make the Dashboard work, and I have been getting conflicting messages from Firefox about the Java Console (??) and the Dashboard isn't working the way I remembered it. Do I need Java to make the Event configuration work? ANy other reason Events won't update?
Thanks for any advice.
Next day: now I am trying to add a new event, and CiviCRM won't even let me go back and change the time while I'm doing the input, before any Save at all.
Further note: I used to be able to get a drop-down calendar on the Start Time and End Time blocks. Now I don't even get that. I did find that I had put ckeditor in the wrong place, but even with that fixed, and with it removed as well, I still don't get the calendars and I still can't get the Save or Save and Done buttons to work. I think I saw that this was a problem on an earlier version, but I'm running 3.14.

Final Report: apparently my snazzy new theme selection (Danland) does not play well with others, like CiviEvents. I found another thread with people having similar problems that blamed another theme. When I switched to Garland, it all worked fine.
Since lots of people have looked at this (well, 10) with no suggestions, maybe this qualifies as a bug.

I had this same problem. I went into the drupal modules administration panel, clicked save after changing nothing, and the modified events appeared. I don't know enough about the programming yet to say why this worked, but it did.
