I disabled a smart group and after creating a regular group with the same members (so that it would show up in our mailing subscription list when the public pages option is selected).  When I did this, the previous mailings I had sent to the smart group disappeared without a trace from the Scheduled and Sent Mailings. 

They came back only when I enabled the original smart group again.  This is very disconcerting!  Why should any mailings that you've sent ever disappear, even if the group they were sent to has become defunct/disabled?

The query that gets the mailing uses the existence of active groups to get a list of "active" mailings

this does not seem great behavior, and would be great to get it fixed. If you can contribute a patch to fix this that would be highly appreciated (and also ensure that it makes it into 3.2!)

Hi,

I know that this is an old topic, but I'm curious to know whether anyone has made any progress in terms of fixing this bug. Is anything logged in JIRA for it yet? I don't mind having a look at the relevant code and working to create a patch, but I'd appreciate a hint as to where to find the relevant code.
